ABOUT THE AUTHOR | BRANDON B. PORTER II

Brandon B. Porter II is the son of Melody G. Porter and Bishop Brandon B. Porter, Sr., who pastors a prominent church in Memphis, Tennessee, and serves on the board of directors for the Church of God in Christ, Inc., an organization with over six million members expanding to over 63 countries. His grandfather, the late Bishop W.L. Porter, was also a renowned religious, community, and business leader.

Following in the vein of his father and his grandfather, Brandon II has already proven a desire to both lead and serve others. He currently attends Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he exemplifies his innate leadership abilities. A second-year business major with a concentration in finance, Brandon was 1 of 12 selected from the entire Morehouse Business Association to be a protégé member. He was also a previous member of the Vanguard Leadership Program and currently serves on the elections committee for the Student Government Association at Morehouse College.A promising musician, Brandon received much inspiration from his great uncle, David Porter, a renowned songwriter and former vice-president of the famous Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee.

Brandon received recognition from Mark Luttrell, the mayor of Shelby County, for active services within the community through the STS (Setting the Standard) Organization. To sharpen his business savvy, he interned for Laurence V. Plummer Financial Services, a subsidiary of John Hancock Financial. He also served with the Memphis Youth and Career Development Program as well as the Future Business Leaders of America.

Entering into his sophomore year at Morehouse, Brandon received inspiration to write from his father, who has authored several books of his own. Brandon desires, through his writing, to motivate his generation to abandon helplessness and hopelessness and emerge as leaders who would make significant accomplishments in order to leave lasting legacies for generations to come. He seeks to remain an example for others, especially his younger brother Bryson, who Brandon deems as his greatest inspiration.
